The Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA) is poised to launch its own T20 league in the 2025-26 season, joining a growing number of state associations venturing into this format.
Anil Patel, Secretary of the Gujarat Cricket Association, has confirmed the decision. However, details such as the ideal window for the tournament and the number of participating teams are still under consideration.
These domestic T20 leagues are increasingly becoming important platforms for IPL franchises to scout talent. Leagues in Delhi, Mumbai, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Andhra, and Saurashtra have successfully provided opportunities for local players to gain recognition and potentially advance their careers. Many of these leagues are typically held in June and July, following the conclusion of the IPL season in May.
